Oct. 23-30
We started their third cycle this week! On top of that, it was Homecoming Week. On Monday morning, we did an RPM spinning class instead of the normal morning cardio.

This was a nice change for the team and we really enjoyed the challenge from Geoff, the instructor.

We had a strong week in the gym and made progress on every event.

On Friday we had our Halloween Intrasquad. As a team, we didn’t do our best, but coming out we were determined to make the changes needed to get where we need to be as a team.

Saturday was a long day for everyone! We had sprints on the outdoor track at 7:30 a.m., walked in the homecoming parade at 9 a.m. and worked the concession stand at the football game at 11 a.m. Although it was a tiring day, we had a great time together as a team!

For those of you that don’t know, the gymnastics team works the concession stand at the Redhawk football games and some of the Cape Central High School games. This is one of the many fundraising activities we participate in.

The life of a Redhawk gymnast is anything but ordinary. As everyone knows, the gymnasts are the “nerds” on campus. We spend a lot of the time keeping up with our studies and enjoy doing well in the classroom, but at the same time, gymnastics is a huge priority in our book.

We love being in the gym, working out and watching our team get better! However, we do also enjoy goofing around in the gym. Ask anyone and they’ll tell you that laughing is a part of every practice for us! We definitely have our fair share of fun!

GET TO KNOW A REDHAWK
This week, the spotlight’s on Freshman Tamara Gent from St. Charles, Missouri. Tamara has been competing in gymnastics since she was a year and a half!!!

Her favorite event is beam and loves spending time in the gym!

Her favorite fruits are pineapple, strawberries and apples. She absolutely loves chocolate as well!

When asked what her favorite Redhawk memory is so far she said, “running around campus taking pictures for the scavenger hunt at the beginning of the school year!”

She aspires to be a nurse.

When asked why she came to Southeast she responded, “I came to SEMO because of the great nursing program it has and because of the gymnastics team!”

Tamara is a very hard worker in the gym and I believe she is a great role model for everyone. She always has a positive attitude, no matter what the circumstances.
