Southeast Gymnastics Release 2007-08 Schedule

Nov. 16, 2007

By Matthew C. Worthington, Gymnastics Contact

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Head coach Tom Farden and the Southeast Missouri State University Redhawks have announced the release of their 2007-08 schedule. Once again, coach Farden and staff have created an explosive schedule with top-ranked competition. The Redhawks will compete against an impressive six teams that finished in the nation's Top 40 last season.

"Our 2008 schedule is loaded with great teams coming to Houck," said Farden. "We're pleased that we have Kentucky (SEC), Iowa (BIG 10), Missouri (Big XII) and three of our conference foes coming to Houck."

The Southeast gymnasts will kick off the season with a three-meet home stand. The season opener will be against last season's No. 23, University of Kentucky, for the annual Outback Steakhouse Invite (Jan. 18). The Redhawks will then host conference foe, Illinois State (Jan. 25) followed by the University of Iowa (Feb. 2).

After a trip south to face Texas Woman's University (Feb. 8), the gymnasts will host Centenary College (Feb. 10) followed by in-state foe, the Mizzou Tigers (Feb. 15).

The Redhawks hit the road after facing the Tigers and will compete in three meets in seven days. Southeast will face Southern Utah on Monday, Feb. 25, B.Y.U. on Wednesday, Feb. 27 and Illinois State on Sunday, March 2.

After a long week on the road, the gymnasts get a few days of needed rest before traveling to face last years toughest conference opponent, the University of Illinois-Chicago (March 8).

The Redhawks wrap up their regular season at home as they face Texas Woman's University (March 20) for "Senior Night".

With the season right around the corner, the Redhawk gymnasts are in full swing.

"Routines have been coming together and training is going well," said Farden. "We're all excited for our 2008 campaign."

The team will give a preview of their talents on Tuesday, Dec. 4, as they compete in the annual intra-squad (red vs. black) meet. This will also be "Meet the Team" night where fans can meet and greet with the gymnasts and pick up an autographed poster or schedule card. The meet will start at 6p.m. in Parker Gymnasium and the Redhawks would love to see a big show of fans.
