Gymnastics Announces First New Signee

Dec. 8, 2003

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO - The Southeast Missouri State Gymnastics team announced that its first signee of the recruiting season is Stephanie Ashmore, from Moorhead, Minn.

The current high school senior is among the top gymnasts in the country, as well as a exceptional Honor Roll student.

Ashmore trains and works out at American Gold Gymnastics. While there, she has developed into a strong all around gymnast, and is particularly strong on the balance beam. In that event, she earned a bronze medal at the Junior Olympics in 2002.

"She is one of the nation's best beam workers, as well as being tremendous on vault," Farden said.

As well as being a standout athlete, Ashmore is outstanding in the classroom as well. She is an Honor Roll student and is on the Who's Who Among Students in America list.

"I am very anxious to have Stephanie develop into an explosive and exciting collegiate gymnast," Farden said.
