Southeast Signs State Champion Gymnast

Dec. 15, 2003

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO - The Southeast Missouri State University gymnastics program today announced the signing of its second recruit for next year's season. Mindy Lineweber, of Lincoln, Neb., will join the Southeast squad for the 2004-2005 season.

Lineweber is a Level 10 state champion in Nebraska in the All-Around. Head coach Tom Farden was pleased with the signing, and said she should strengthen the Southeast team.

"Mindy has the potential to be a top uneven bars worker," Farden said.

As well as putting up big numbers in the gym, Lineweber also sports a 3.9 grade point average. Her academic aptitude will strengthen the already nationally-ranked Southeast gymnastics squad which had five members of last year's squad named to the 2003 Academic All-American Scholastic Gymnastics Team.

"Mindy is a very gifted athlete," Farden said. "We're anxious to have her make a solid contribution as a Southeast gymnast."
