Val is the ultimate competitor… a fearless defender… and a high-energy player who is a tremendous athlete … She can play in the back, outside midfield or up top.

2003: Missed several gamed due to ankle injury...played in 14 games...started 10 games out of 20...finished the season with 3 goals.

2002: Played in 20 games … tied second on team with 6 goals and had 5 game winning goals, 3 came in conference play… first on team in assists (5) … OVC Player of the Year… All-OVC first team … named to the All-Central region third team.

2001: Played in 17 games … scored three goals including game-winner versus Central Arkansas (9.9) … made switch from a forward to a defender and helped sure up the number one defense in the entire nation.

2000: All-OVC first-team … played in 16 games … scored six goals and had five assists … had two goals each versus Western Illinois (9.1) and Georgetown (10.8) … had a goal and two assists versus Youngstown (9.3).

Prep: Attended Hazelwood Academy … coached by Dean Schulenberg … named first-team all-conference and all-state in 1997, 1998 and 1999 … selected to Post-Dispatch all-metro second team in 2000 … won team Offensive MVP award in 1999 … set school record for assists in 1999 … also participated in softball … named team MVP three times and defensive player of the year in 1998.

Personal: Born 12-2-81 … daughter of Rich and Joan Henderson … majoring in physical education … favorite athlete is Mia Hamm … also recruited by UMSL, Lindenwood, Central Missouri and Murray State … at Hazelwood received Outstanding Achievement award twice and Teacher’s Choice Award twice … high school teammate of sophomore Marla Gianino … Southeast Scholar Athlete.
