Aug. 22, 2003

Box Score

St. Louis, Mo. - St. Louis University swept past the Otahkians 3-2 at Robert T. Hermann Stadium for Southeast's second exhibition loss on the season.

The Otahkians jumped on top early as junior midfieldler Marla Gianino scored on a break-in off a feed from forward Erika Todd after six minutes of play. The lead didn't last long as sophomore midfielder Christie Cigno tied the game for the Billikens in the 13th minute as the corner kick from midfielder Courtney Hulcer deflected off her body.

Freshman forward Anna Schuch grabbed the lead for the Billiken's at the end of the first half with a looping 10-yard shot over the head of keeper Amanda Wrzos.

The Billikens increased the spread on an unassisted 18-yard shot just under the cross bar on a long drive by Courtney Hulcer. Southeast's Lisa Schweppe brought the Otahk's within one in the 70th minute of play on a header shot over SLU keeper Sarah Schweitzer off an assist from Erika Todd. Todd had both assists on the night for Southeast.

That goal was not enough for Southeast as they went on to lose 3-2 and had only 4 shots all night compared SlU's 22. Otahkian keeper Amanda Wrzos went the distance and made eight stops, as her defense helped her clear another 3 balls off the line. Billiken sophomore keeper Amanda Martin made two saves and allowed one goal. Freshman Schweitzer finished the game in goal allowing one goal to score and no saves.

Southeast will be at home Sunday August 24 for to wrap-up exhibition play against JB Marine-Dillinger at 7:00 pm.
