CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Less than a week before its season-opening contest, the Southeast Missouri State soccer team concluded its exhibition schedule with a 1-1 tie at Arkansas State this afternoon at ASU's Indian Soccer Stadium in Jonesboro, Ark.

The Indians claimed a 1-0 lead in the 10th minute on an unassisted goal from junior Markie McRae, but the Redhawks tied the score at 1-all more than three minutes later when sophomore forward Courtney Alexander (Liberty, Mo./Liberty) produced an unassisted goal of her own. Southeast notched a 9-2 shooting margin in the second half but could not convert a game-winning tally.

The Redhawks held the advantage in shot attempts (15-8) and corner kicks (4-1). Alexander finished the contest with a match-best five shots, including four on goal, while senior goalkeeper Lindsay Pickering (St. Charles, Mo./St. Charles West) recorded three saves.

Southeast faces Northwestern State to Houck Stadium on Friday, Aug. 31 for its 2007 season opener with a start time of 7 p.m.
