Southeast Suffers 1-0 Loss At Missouri State
Sept. 2, 2007 SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Southeast Missouri State soccer suffered its first loss of the 2007 season after losing a close 1-0 decision to in-state rival Missouri State today at Plaster Field. The Bears improve to 2-0 with the win and the Redhawks drop their record to 1-1 on the young season. Sophomore Jenna Laughlin scored the only goal of the match in the eighth minute of the first half off a five-yard shot after receiving a cross pass from senior Lauren Peck. Southeast attempted to even the score, but only attempted two shots in the second half. Sophomore forward Courtney Alexander (Liberty, MO/Liberty) paced the Redhawks with two shots and senior goalkeeper Lindsay Pickering (St. Charles, MO/St. Charles West) notched four saves. Missouri State was led by juniors Allison Osmundson and Caroline Sweeney, and sophomore Nicole Logan, who tallied two shots apiece. Junior Jackie Jasper recorded four saves to gain the shutout victory. Southeast returns to Houck Stadium on Sept. 9 where it will host DePaul in a non-conference match-up with the kickoff set for 2 p.m. |
