Southeast Shuts Out Arkansas State for Third Victory of Season Five second half goals lead to Otahkian's second shutout victory.
JONESBORO, ARK. (September 11, 2000) - The Southeast Missouri State Otahkians (3-1-1) shutout the Arkansas State Lady Indians (1-4) 5-0 at the ASU Intramural Fields on Monday afternoon. Although the first half was scoreless, Southeast wasted no time in the second half jumping on the scoreboard. Nichole Thiele (Sr., Cape Girardeau, Mo.) scored her six and seventh goals of the season in the first 12 minutes of the second half. Later in the half, Jennifer Zimmerman (Fr., Wildwood, Mo.) scored her first goal of the season in only her second game back after winning her appeal for academic eligibility from the NCAA Clearinghouse. Karen Schmitt (Fr., Washington, Mo.) added the fourth Southeast goal of the night off an Erika Todd (Fr., Granite City, Ill.) assist and Todd scored her fifth goal of the season thirty seconds later to round out the scoring. Southeast's next game is Sunday, September 17, versus Western Illinois in Houck Stadium at 1 p.m. |
