Sept. 12, 2007
EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Southeast Missouri State soccer continued its stretch of playing four matches in a seven-day span by battling host Evansville to a 1-1 double-overtime tie Tuesday night at UE's Black Beauty Field. With the tie, Southeast moved its record to 2-1-1 on the year and UE posted its season mark to 3-1-1. The Purple Aces captured a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute after junior Kayla Lambert blasted a 20-yard shot past the hands of Southeast sophomore goalkeeper Rachel Harrington (Vancouver, WA/Skyway). Evansville produced a slim 5-4 advantage in shot attempts for the first half. The scored stayed the same until early in the second half when senior forward Alaina Lacopo (Troy, IL/Triad) hit the back of the net in the 49th minute with a four-yard volley shot off assists from sophomore forward Courtney Alexander (Liberty, MO/Liberty) and junior defender Megan McGrath (Hawthorn Woods, IL/Carmel) for the Redhawks to even the score at 1-1. Both teams battled back and forth through the regulation and two 10-minute overtime periods before settling on the draw. Southeast held advantages over Evansville in shot attempts (13-12), saves (5-1) and corner kicks (7-3). Alexander and freshman forward Ashley Runion (St. Peters, MO/Ft.
