Women's Soccer Beats University of Kentucky

Cape Girardeau - The Southeast Soccer team beats formally nationally ranked University of Kentucky by a score of 2-1, leaving the Otahkians 5-2 and the Wildcats 4-3.

In the first 16 minutes of play, freshman Ashley DeRoy made her first colligate goal with an assist from sophomore Heather Reding from 22 yards away. Four minutes later in the game junior Valerie Henderson assisted sophomore Erin Slattery to keep the game going for the second and final Otahkian goal of the night.

UK scored shortly after with a header from Erin Witchey, but that would be the only goal for the Wildcats. Southeast defense and goalkeepers would protect their lead to end the game in Lexington victorious.

Southeast goalie sophomore Amanda Wrzos faced 5 shots from Kentucky during the first period and allowed one goal and had one save. Her teammate freshman Lauren Fabbro faced 7 shots in the second period and made a tremendous 6 saves to preserve a Southeast win.

The Otahkians travel back home to play Oral Roberts University at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.
