Women's Soccer defeated Oral Roberts on Sunday

CAPE GIRARDEAU - Southeast Missouri State University wins against Oral Roberts University 3-0 in a very physical game. The Otahkians' record now stands at 6-2 for the 2002 season.

Sophomore Erika Todd scored the first goal of the game with an assist from freshman Ashley DeRoy. Later in the first period junior Jennifer Unrein scored the second goal for the Otahkians unassisted. The game-winning goal came in the second period from freshman Megan Hejlek who was assisted by sophomore Michelle Frossard.

Southeast was out shot by the Golden Eagles 16-14. Oral Roberts leading scorer Freshman Jessica Kellog had 5 shots and junior Jodi Kirkhuff had 4. Southeast shots were lead by freshman Lisa Schweppe, who had 4 during the game.

Southeast goalkeepers sophomore Amanda Wrzos and freshman Lauren Fabbro were outstanding against the Golden Eagles. Wrzos tended goal the first period and faced 6 shots making 4 saves and Fabbro faced 10 shots the second period and made 7 saves. They both had a great game awarded by another shutout. That makes 5 shutouts for a total of 6 wins.

The game was a very physical match with Southeast's Schweppe, and Oral Roberts' Amber Morsey both being booked with a yellow card. Southeast finished the game with 20 fouls and ORU with 14.

The Otahkians next matches will be away against Drake on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and then at Creighton on Sunday.
