Redhawks Net Win Over Memphis In Double OT, Win 1-0

Sept. 25, 2005

Box Score

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - (Sunday, September 25, 2005) For the second game in a row, Southeast was forced to play double overtime, however this one had a different ending. With 44 seconds remaining in the second overtime period, Redhawk Nicole Bussman was able to find the back of the net, to give the Redhawks the win, 1-0.

The game was a defensive battle throughout, as the Memphis defense was able to limit the Redhawk offense to only three shots on goal. Memphis seemed to be in Southeast's end for most of the evening, but Southeast goalie Lindsay Pickering continued her stellar play, as she made several nice stops to keep the game knotted up.

Entering the second overtime period, Southeast had been limited to only a few scoring chances, but as the Memphis goalie game out to defend the play, Bussman was able to sneak a shot over her head, from about 40 yards away.

With this win, Southeast moves to 5-2 on the season, while Memphis falls to 6-3. Southeast's next game will again be at home, as they host OVC rival Austin Peay on Friday, September 30. The game will begin at 7:00 p.m. and will take place at Houck Stadium.
