Southeast lost to Memphis, 2-1

CAPE GIRARDEAU - The Southeast Soccer team lost to the University of Memphis in a very physical game. The Otahkians are now 7-4-1 after being defeated by the Lady Tigers making them 5-5-1.

Sophomore Marla Gianino scored the only goal for Southeast and had two shots during the game. Junior Valerie Henderson led the Otahks with seven shots and five shots on goal. She was followed by junior Erika Todd who had four shots and sophomore Erin Slattery with three. The team had a total of 20 shots and 9 shots on goal.

The Otahkians struggled against a strong and very talented team from the University of Memphis. Memphis showed great ball control and had a dangerous counter attack. Kirsty Marr for Memphis was outstanding. She had four shots during the game and displayed tremendous ball control. Becca Amrozowicz also played great for Memphis with two shots, one goal, and an assist. Alison Baker scored the game-winning goal and had three shots during the game. The team had a total of 11 shots and 9 on goal.

Southeast will begin travel to Tennessee Tech for a game on Friday before returning home to play Lipscomb on Saturday at noon. Admission will be $3.00 for adults and $1.00 for children 6-18 and free for Southeast students.
