Final Stats

By Brett Maikowski, Soccer Contact

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Neither team was able to put anything in the back of the nets tonight as Southeast Missouri State and Morehead State soccer tied 0-0. This gives SEMO their third tie of the season, placing them at 1-6-3 overall and 0-2-2 in the Ohio Valley Conference. MSU is now 5-6-2 overall and 2-0-2 in the OVC.

In the first half, the Redhawks only put up one shot, while the Eagles were able to shoot at sophomore Jessica Beckham seven times. Beckham recorded four saves in the half. The only other scoring opportunity for SEMO came off of an early corner kick in the fourth minute of play, which didn't produce anything either.

The second half offense picked up as a total of 10 shots were taken from the field, including five from each team. Also, each goalie recorded three saves for the half. Although still no scoring took place, it was a very physical battle with 15 total fouls being called on the two teams.

Two overtime periods were still not enough to decide a winner between the Redhawks and Eagles. MSU had three corner kicks and one shot in the extra time, giving them a total of six corners and 13 shots for the game. SEMO only had one corner and two shots after the first 90 minutes, raising their totals up to eight shots and four corner kicks for the contest.

The Redhawks will continue to work towards their first OVC victory of the season on Sunday against their next opponent, Eastern Kentucky University. The scheduled kickoff time is set for 2 p.m.
