Soccer Battles Morehead State To Scoreless Draw

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri State soccer, playing its first game at Houck Stadium since Sept. 26, captured its first tie of the season tonight after battling visiting Morehead State to a 0-0 draw. With the tie, the Redhawks are now 6-6-1 (3-2-1 Ohio Valley Conference) this season, while the Eagles are 5-7-2 (3-1-2) on the year.

Southeast dominated the contest with a 25-9 shooting advantage over Morehead State, including a 13-3 margin in the first half. Sophomore midfielder Casey Kraft (St. Louis, MO/Nerinx Hall) led all players with eight shots and five shots on goal, while senior goalkeeper Lindsay Pickering (St. Charles, MO/St. Charles West) had six saves for her sixth shutout of the season.

Rebekah Kendall, the reigning OVC Offensive Player of the Week, recorded five shots for the Eagles and Leslie King tallied a match-best 10 saves with seven coming in the first stanza.

The Redhawks return to action this Sunday at Houck with an OVC contest against Eastern Kentucky with the kickoff slated for 2 p.m.
