CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - The Redhawks finished their last home match of the season with their second straight 1-0 victory of the weekend over the visiting Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles (4-10-3, 3-2-2). Bobbi Jo Schlick scored at the 2:16 mark to give Southeast the early lead and their fastest goal of the season. The Redhawks (7-5-2, 2-1-2) now improve to the sixth spot, which is the last spot to make the OVC Tournament.

Schlick's team leading 5th goal came after the ball got lobbed into the top of the penalty box and started bouncing around. Schlick then took control and dribbled around the defenders before taking the game winning shot from the edge of the box. Goalkeeper Kaitlyn Thacker dove to her right, but couldn't snag the save.

The match stayed fairly evenly matched throughout as Southeast out shot Tennessee Tech only by a 12-8 margin. No shots got by either goalie though after the third minute of the match. Southeast had a pair of corner kicks in each half, but those were unsuccessful as well.

In goal, with the victory Kristen Starkey recorded her Ohio Valley Conference leading 6th shutout and reduced her goals against average to 0.84, which also leads the conference. Starkey also improved her record to 6-3-2 with a 0.714 save percentage. On the other side of the field, Thacker recorded four saves, while giving up the one goal.

Southeast has been a tough competitor at home this year, as they finish with a 6-1-2, 2-0-2 record at Houck Stadium. They now travel to Kentucky this weekend to take on Morehead State on Friday at 7 p.m. and Eastern Kentucky on Sunday at 1 p.m. Morehead State is currently undefeated in OVC play.
