CHARLESTON, ILL. (October 26, 2000) - The Southeast Missouri State soccer team lost a 2-1 decision to Morehead State University in the quarterfinals of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament Friday at Eastern Illinois University.

Morehead struck first as Christina Moore scored her 14th goal of the season off a Tracy Tenholder assist at the 35th minute. Southeast would only manage three shots in the first half as the Otahks went to the locker room down 1-0.

The second half was evenly matched as Southeast outshot Morehead 10-7. All-OVC performer Nichole Thiele (Sr., Cape Girardeau, Mo.) scored the equalizer with less than five minutes remaining off a Karen Schmitt (Fr., Washington, Mo.) assist. Unfortunately, with a mere 1:44 left, Alison Conley snuck a crossing shot into the upper corner of the goal to push the Eagles to the victory.

Ironically, the victory gave the Eagles a bit of revenge, as they loss to the Otahkians 2-0 in the quarterfinals of the 1999 OVC Tournament.

The Otahkians (10-6-1) end the season having more than doubling its win total from a season ago.
