Southeast clinch home field advantage for OVC tournament
Oct. 27, 2002 Cape Girardeau - Southeast shutout the University of Tennessee-Martin 3-0, guaranteeing them home field advantage for the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament in November. Southeast remains undefeated in the OVC after a physical game against the Skyhawks. Southeast out shot UT-Martin 28 to 7. Junior Valerie Henderson score back-to-back goals to put the Otahkians on the board in the second half. Erin Slattery and Lisa Schweppe assisted her each for the goals. Schweppe scored the final goal of the game with an assist for Henderson. "Val played a great game she demonstrated her talent and leadership on the field," said Coach Heather Nelson. "The entire team played tough and extremely well against Martin." The game was very physical between the two teams, who both played a very focused and determined game. Southeast had a total of 21 fouls and Julie Wunderlich was given a yellow card during the game. UT-Martin had 18 fouls and Katie Hausauer was issued a yellow card during the game. Southeast will play their final regular season game at Murray State on Wednesday. |
