CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Two Southeast Missouri State Otahkian soccer players were named to the Soccer Buzz All-Central region third team as announced by the magazine today. Senior goalkeeper Beth Guccione and junior defender Jenny Hamilton became the first Otahkians honored nationally in the program's three-year history.

Guccione completed one of the best seasons in goal in NCAA history. Gooch recorded 13 shutouts in 18 games for a shutout percentage of .72 on the season. The .72 percentage ranked as number two all-time in NCAA history while the 13 shutouts in a season ranked third in NCAA history all-time. For her outstanding play this season, Guccione was named OVC Player of the Year, the first goalkeeper to obtain this honor.

Hamilton led one of the nation's top ranked defenses, which only allowed eight total goals this season. The 0.44 goals allowed average as a team ranked second in the country behind only national runner-up North Carolina. Hamilton was named OVC Defensive Player of the Year this past season.

As a team, Southeast's .72 shutout percentage led the nation, the first statistical category Southeast has led in its history. Offensively, Southeast finished 10th in the nation in scoring, averaging 2.67 points per game.
