Head Soccer Coach Heather Nelson Announces the Signing of Jessica Kaiz
Feb. 5, 2005 Cape Girardeau, MO - Senior midfielder Jessica Kaiz of Buffalo Grove HS and Eclipse Select signed a national letter of intent February 2, 2005 to play soccer at Southeast Missouri State University under head coach Heather Nelson. She is the daughter of Jeff and Debbie Kaiz of Arlington Heights, IL. In her junior season Kaiz was recognized by the IHSSCA as an All-Sectional, All-Conference and All-Area player. She was also the IHSA's Player of the East and named to the Daily Herald All-Area team. As a junior she had 28 points, 9 goals and 10 assists on the season. In her sophomore campaign, Kaiz was recognized as an All-Sectional, All-Conference, and Daily Herald All-Area player. In the same year, she was named to the Chicago Sun-Times "Top 12 Sophomores," along with Eclipse teammate and Southeast signee Megan McGrath. As a sophomore she had 26 points, 7 goals and 12 assists. In her freshman season, Kaiz scored 8 goals and had 11 assists.
Under the direction of coach Mike Fisher, Kaiz and her Buffalo Grove teammates were crowned IHSA Regional Champions in 2003. As a three year letter winner, Jessica begins her senior season under the direction of new head coach Laura Wardle. She is 5'5", naturally left-footed, and plays both midfield and forward for her high school team. Team achievements of the Eclipse Select 86/87's coached by Rory Dames include: 2004 Midwest Regional Leaugue Champions, 2003 U.S. Snickers National Finalists, 2003 Midwest Region II Champions, and 2002-04 Illinois State Cup Finalists. Kaiz's current Eclipse teammates Gianna Logston and Megan McGrath have also signed letters of intent to play for the Redhawks. "Jess has been a dominant player in both midfield and defense for her nationally ranked Eclipse Select team," said Coach Nelson. "She is recognized for her pure speed and versatility, and will be a great addition to our program." |
