Redhawks Soccer Adds Three More Signees

March 23, 2007

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri State soccer head coach Heather Nelson has announced the recent signings of Kristi Frick (Villa Ridge, Mo.), Shayna Kremer (Washington, Mo.) and Ashley Runion (St. Peters, Mo.) to National Letters of Intent to compete for the Redhawks beginning this August. The trio will join Vanessa Hart (Dubbo, NSW Australia) as part of the 2007 recruiting class.

Last fall, the Redhawks posted a 10-8-2 record en route to capturing their first-ever OVC tournament championship and NCAA Tournament berth.

Kristi Frick - Defender/Forward - Villa Ridge, Mo.

Starter for the Washington (Mo.) High School and M.C. United club teams at forward... posted 14 goals, including five game-winning goals, and 10 assists in her junior season at Washington in which she captured All- Gateway Athletic Conference and team offensive MVP accolades... has been awarded a Regent's Scholarship at Southeast.

Coach Nelson on Frick: "Given Kristi's speed, composure and strength in the air, she has the potential to develop into a solid central defender. She is bright, dedicated and coachable and we are looking forward to her joining our 2007 team."

Shayna Kremer - Defender - Washington, Mo.

Recognized as one of the most dominant players in the Gateway Athletic Conference at Washington (Mo.) High School, where she is a teammate of fellow signee Kristi Frick... primary starter in the defense for Washington and tallied five goals and three assists in her junior season... named to the All-GAC second team following the 2006 campaign... also played club soccer for M.C. United with Frick...

Coach Nelson on Kremer: "Shayna's passion to play at the Division I level is outstanding. She is dedicated to training and is extremely coachable. Notably she is one of the fastest and most powerful high school players that I have evaluated. Shayna is a `diamond in the rough' and we couldn't be more excited about her future potential."

Ashley Runion - Forward - St. Peters, Mo.

Has earned All-Gateway Athletic Conference honors in three sports at Fort Zumwalt South in which she has played in her entire prep career... led her high school team to the GAC District Championship game in her junior season after posting 20 goals and eight assists with six game-winning goals... guided the FZS girls' basketball team a pair of district titles, while ranking first in the GAC South Division in rebounds and steals, while finishing third with a scoring average of 16.6 points per game... led the school's softball team with a .366 batting average with two home runs and 13 RBI, while gaining First Team all-GAC and all-district honors last fall.

Coach Nelson on Runion: "Ashley caught my eye the first time I watched her play. She is natural with her back to the goal, is dangerous with the ball at her feet and is strong in the air. In addition to her athletic qualities of speed, height and strength, Ashley has the mentality to play at the highest levels of the game. We couldn't be more excited about her decision to sign at Southeast and to focus on excelling as a Division I soccer player."
