Southeast Soccer Plays At The Savvis Center on Saturday

March 28, 2006

Cape Girardeau, Mo. - Saturday will be SEMO/SIUE Night at the Savvis Center in St. Louis. The Redhawks women's soccer team will go against SIU-Edwardsville in an exhibition game at 5:30 p.m. with the St. Louis Steamers vs. Milwaukee Wave professional soccer game to follow at 7:05 p.m.

The Southeast soccer alumni will meet the SIUE alumni in a match at 4:30 p.m.

"It should be a great evening and night of soccer," said Southeast coach Heather Nelson. "We compete at the Savvis Center for added exposure in the St. Louis area and we use the event as a fund raiser. We sold nearly 800 tickets with a portion of the ticket proceeds going to Southeast soccer."

Southeast will be short handed in the game with no goalkeeper available for action. The regular goalkeeper is Lindsay Pickering who is also center fielder on the Southeast softball team that will be playing in Cape Girardeau on Saturday. "We will just have to put one of our regular players in goal and do the best job we can," Nelson said. "Our players really look forward to playing at the Savvis Center."
