SOCCER TO FACE BUSCH-HOPFINGER FROM ST. LOUIS IN EXHIBITION GAME

Aug. 13, 2003

Cape Girardeau, Mo. - The Southeast soccer team is preparing to play its first game Sunday at 7:00 p.m., against the Busch-Hopfinger Soccer Club team from St. Louis. This pre-season exhibition game will be the first action the Southeast team will see as they prepare to improve on their 14-5-1 overall record from last season. The Otahkian squad finished the with a perfect 6-0 record in conference play, claiming the OVC regular season championship for the second straight year. This year's squad should prove to remain strong as Southeast returns 10 of its 11 starters from last season.

Busch-Hopfinger is part of the St. Louis select Busch Soccer Club. This under-18 team has experienced tremendous success in the past, as they are five-time Missouri State Champions, two time Region II Champions, and two time US National Champion Runners-Up. This will mark the first meeting for the two teams, but it will be the second season in a row that Southeast has faced a select Busch Soccer Club in pre-season action. Last season Southeast was victorious over Busch-Hulcer 1-0, on a last-second header goal scored by midfielder Erin Slattery.

The exhibition game will take place at Houck Stadium, 7:00 p.m., Sunday. The Otahkians will be in action for their first regular season home game on Friday, September 12 against Indiana University- Purdue University Indianapolis at 7:00 p.m.
