CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - The Southeast Missouri State Otahkian soccer team will open its 2001 campaign by hosting the St. Louis based Busch Soccer Club under-17 team in an exhibition/fundraiser at Houck Stadium on Saturday.

The event will get started at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday with a free soccer clinic for boys and girls ages 4-15. All participants are asked to please bring a soccer ball. The clinic is free with a purchase of a barbecue ticket, which is $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for kids 12 and under. The barbeque will begin immediately following the clinic at 6:00 p.m.

The game will get under way at 7:00 p.m. The Busch Soccer Club is one of the top clubs in the St. Louis area and the 2001 edition of the Otahkians feature several alums from the club, including freshman Marla Gianino, Katherine Huelsing, Lisa Schweppee and Erin Slattery who all played on the same Busch team that won several state club titles.

Southeast, coming off a 10-6-1 record and third place finish in the OVC last season, will be lead by seniors Nichole Thiele and Beth Guccione and returning All-OVC first teamers Erika Todd and Valerie Henderson.
