Memphis Tops Southeast In Exhibition Soccer

Cape Girardeau, Mo. - Memphis scored three unanswered goals in the second half to claim a 3-1 exhibition win over Southeast Missouri State on Friday night at Houck Stadium.

Southeast jumped to a 1-0 halftime lead on a goal by freshman Emily Newsham with an assist from senior Diana Poovey. Carina Souza, a member of the Southeast women's basketball team the past two seasons, made her soccer debut in goal and shut out Memphis in the first half.

Memphis dominated play in the second half to score three goals and claim the victory.

Southeast will play its final exhibition game on Sunday, hosting Drury University in a 2 p.m. match at Houck Stadium.
