Southeast vs. Saint Louis University About Southeast: Southeast stormed onto the field on Monday night and defeated the Memphis Tigers 3-1 behind a trifecta of goals from freshman playing in their first non-scrimmage contest of the year. St. Louis natives, Marla Gianino, Laura Hauskins and Erin Slattery each scored a goal apiece for the Otahks, as Southeast defeated the Tigers. Sophomore midfielder Erika Todd, a first-team All-OVC selection in 2000, assisted on two of the Southeast goals, with Gianino and Hauskins also picking up an assist apiece. Senior goalkeeper Beth Guccione, who is coming off a redshirt season in 2000, stopped three of the four shots Memphis had on-goal, in helping the youthful Southeast team to the victory. CUSA Once Again: The Saint Louis Billikens give Southeast another chance to face a team from Conference USA before starting the regular season. And the Billikens look to be a mighty challenge. They finished the 2000 season 15-5-3 overall, and 8-0-3 in CUSA. But more importantly, 19 of the 25 members of the 2000 team return for SLU, making them a serious contender in the league once again this season. Southeast Tournament: The regular season will begin Labor Day Weekend as the Otahkians host the first annual Southeast Tournament featuring Ball State, Belmont and Jacksonville State. Each team will play two games with a tournament champion decided by best record.
