Redhawks Close Exhibition Soccer Slate This Sunday

Aug. 24, 2007

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri State soccer team looks to close its exhibition schedule this Sunday as it heads to Jonesboro, Ark., to battle host Arkansas State at Indian Soccer Stadium with a start time of 1:30 p.m.

Last week, the Redhawks produced a 1-0 win at Missouri-St. Louis before traveling to Southern Illinois-Edwardsville for a scrimmage. Redshirt senior Molli Beard (Libertyville, IL/Libertyville) tallied the game-winning goal against UMSL in her first match since the end of the 2005 season after redshirting last year due to an injury.

The Indians posted a record of 1-17-1 last year and is led by first-year head coach Derek Pittman. The leading returning scorer for ASU is junior forward Markie McRae, who tallied seven goals in 2006.

Southeast opens the regular season next week at Houck Stadium against Northwestern State at 7 p.m.
