CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Moving away from home, staring a new year of classes and adjusting to being a student-athlete can be tough. For the average freshman this may be true but not for Southeast Missouri State's Erin Slattery (Des Peres, Mo.) who capped an outstanding first week of soccer by being named OVC Player of the Week.

The freshman forward scored two goals and had an assist in her first two regular season games for the Otahkians, as the Southeast soccer team opened the season 2-0 for the first time.

Slattery scored her first collegiate goal and added an assist versus Belmont on Friday night and added her second goal against Jacksonville State on Sunday. Her scoring was instrumental in helping the Otahkians to a share of the Southeast Labor Day Tournament.

Slattery, who is currently tied for the team lead in goals, will be back in action with her teammates on Friday afternoon as Southeast hosts Arkansas-Little Rock at 2:00 p.m.
