Alaina Lacopo Earns OVC Offensive Player of the Week Award

Sept. 11, 2007

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri State senior soccer player Alaina Lacopo (Troy, IL/Triad) was picked as the Ohio Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week for her Sept. 9 performance against DePaul at Houck Stadium, the conference announced in its weekly release earlier this afternoon.

Lacopo, a three-year letterwinner at forward, scored two goals in the Redhawks' 4-1 win over the Blue Demons, which tied a career-high. She scored the game-winning tally in the 56th minute that snapped a 1-1 halftime tie and added a goal in the 77th minute to seal the win. It was the first time since the 2005 season that Lacopo produced a multi-goal game. It is the first weekly conference honor for Lacopo and the first for Southeast this season.

The Redhawks, currently 2-1 on the year, open a five-match, three-week road swing tonight in Indiana against Evansville with a start time of 7 p.m.
