Alexander Named OVC Offensive Player of the Week

Sept. 13, 2006

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri State freshman forward Courtney Alexander (Liberty, MO/Liberty) was selected as the Ohio Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Sept. 12. This is the first-ever collegiate weekly honor for Alexander and the first for the Redhawks this season.

The 5-6 Alexander helped Southeast post a 1-1 record last weekend by scoring seven points. She tallied her first collegiate point with an assist on the team's first goal in a 3-2 loss at DePaul on Sept. 8. Two days later, Alexander notched her first career hat trick in the 3-0 Southeast win over Troy at Houck Stadium. Her final two goals of the contest came within the final three minutes as she scored on a penalty kick and a breakaway goal. Alexander has started in all four contests this season for the Redhawks.

Southeast heads to Memphis tomorrow night (Sept. 14) for a non-conference match against the host Tigers at Mike Rose Soccer Complex with a start time of 7 p.m. The Redhawks are back at Houck Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 16 against Arkansas-Pine Bluff at 7 p.m.
