Blair Schuppan Earns OVC Weekly Honor

Sept. 19, 2006

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri State junior defender Blair Schuppan (St. Louis, MO/Nerinx Hall) was selected as the Ohio Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced earlier this afternoon.

She becomes the third Redhawk to capture a weekly honor from the OVC this season, joining freshman Courtney Alexander (Liberty, MO/Liberty) and sophomore Megan McGrath (Hawthorn Woods, IL/Carmel).

Schuppan tallied three goals and two assists in Southeast's last three matches, including her first career hat trick in a 12-0 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Sept. 16. She also assisted on the game-tying goal against No. 26 Saint Louis yesterday evening before the Billikens captured a 2-1 win in the final minutes. For the season, Schuppan has started all seven matches for Southeast and ranks second on the team with eight points.

The Redhawks host Murray State at Houck Stadium in their OVC opener this Friday (Sept. 22) with a start time of 7 p.m.
