University of Tulsa and Oral Roberts are Otahkian opponents this weekend.
Sept. 26, 2001
Southeast (6-0) vs. Tulsa (4-2-1)
Southeast vs. Oral Roberts (3-3)
About Southeast: The home turf of Houck Stadium has been kind to Southeast this season, as the Othkians have won all six home contests, running their Houck winning streak to nine total games. But this weekend, Southeast will go on the road for the first time, where they have a three-game road winning streak, dating back to last season.
Southeast has been a defensive force so far in 2001, not allowing a single goal. They are only of only three schools in Division I (UNC and Princeton are the others) that have not allowed a goal. Senior goalkeeper Beth Guccione has logged 540 consecutive scoreless minutes and six shutouts this season. That makes nine shutouts for her career, which is first all-time at Southast. Overall Southeast has outshot its opponents 92-24 on the season.
This weekend's Tulsa Adidas Classic includes Southeast opponents Tulsa and Oral Roberts, with St . Bonaventure being the fourth team. The Bonnies will play Tulsa and ORU but not compete against Southeast.
Tulsa, out of the WAC conference, has been solid this season, winning the Oklahoma State AT&T Wireless Classic last weekend. Oral Roberts currently has a 3-3 record with one more game to play before this weekend.
The games also feature each school's conference respective Player of the Week. Southeast's Beth Guccione is the reigning OVC Player of the Week, Tulsa's GK Abby Fahrig is the WAC Player of the Week, and ORU's F/MF Erin Hartog is the Mid-Continent Player of the Week.
