Oct. 4, 2007

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri State soccer returns to Houck Stadium as it begins a key three-match homestand this weekend, beginning Friday night against Ohio Valley Conference foe Austin Peay with a 7 p.m., start time. The Redhawks then close the weekend versus Tennessee Tech on Sunday with the kickoff set for 2 p.m.

Southeast enters the weekend with a 5-2-1 record on the season and holds a 2-0 mark against OVC opposition. Last weekend, the Redhawks kicked off conference play with a 3-2 win at Morehead State and a 9-0 victory at Eastern Kentucky. Freshman forward Ashley Runion (St. Peters, MO/Ft. Zumwalt South) currently leads Southeast with six goals and 15 points, while sophomore forward Courtney Alexander (Liberty, MO/Liberty) has tallied a team-best five assists. Senior goalkeeper Lindsay Pickering (St. Charles, MO/St. Charles West) has produced 36 saves with a 0.97 goals against average in addition to becoming the OVC's career shutout leaders with 23 career blankings.

Austin Peay brings a 5-5 record into Friday's contest that includes a 0-1 mark in OVC play. The Lady Govs captured a 2-0 home victory Monday evening over Alabama A&M after dropping a 3-1 decision at Tennessee Tech on Sept. 30. Austin Peay is led by junior forward Ashley Beck's seven goals and two assists, while sophomore Michelle Smith has notched a team-best 40 saves in 846-plus minutes in goal.

Tennessee Tech has produced a 2-5-2 record and is 1-0 in the OVC standings heading into its Friday night match at Eastern Illinois. The Golden Eagles opened their conference slate last weekend with the win over Austin Peay at home. Freshman midfielder Ashley Smith is Tech's leading goal scorer with three and redshirt junior Katie Hoover has recorded a team-best six assists with 10 points.

The Redhawks welcome Eastern Illinois in a key OVC contest at Houck Stadium on Oct. 12 with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
