Southeast (10-1, 2-0) vs. Morehead State (2-12, 0-2)
Southeast vs. Lipscomb (0-11)
About Southeast: Southeast experienced another first last week, in defeating defending OVC Tournament Champion Tennessee Tech for the first time in three attempts, 2-0 last Saturday. Southeast completely dominated the game, limited Tech to only five shot attempts and no corner kicks. Senior GK Beth Guccione and the Southeast defense once again shined, recording its eights shutout in 11 games this season. Guccione recorded her 8th shutout of the season and 11th of her career, both Otahkian records.
This season, Southeast ranks second in the nation in shutout percentage (0.73), trailing only the University of Denver.
The win put Southeast in the driver's seat to win its first OVC Regular Season Championship and host the OVC Tournament November 9-11 at Houck Stadium. This would be important to the Otahkians who enter this week's games with a 10-game home winning streak, all of which have come by shutout.
Revenge will play a role in the Morehead State game on Friday, as the Eagles knocked Southeast out of the OVC Tournament a season ago. It was the first victory for Morehead over Southeast in four attempts. Morehead has struggled to win games this season, only managing victories over Charleston (WV) and Lipscomb.
Lipscomb, the Otahks' Sunday opponent, was shutout by Morehead last Friday. Last season against Southeast, Lipscomb was dominated, being outshot 45-0 in a game Southeast won 4-0. The Lady Bisons are winless on the season.
An important OVC game to watch this week is the Eastern Illinois-Tennessee Tech matchup in Cookeville on Friday. The winner of the matchup will claim 2nd place in the OVC.
