Southeast (13-1) vs. Creighton (10-5)
October 26, 2001, 7:00 p.m.
Sportport, St. Louis, Mo.
All-Time Series: Southeast leads 1-0.

About Southeast: Southeast recorded its fourth shutout in a row on Wednesday and improved to 4-0 overall in the Ohio Valley Conference. The 4-0 record is the best in school history and Southeast can clinch the OVC Championship with a Murray State loss or a victory over the Racers on November 4.

Against UTM on Wednesday, sophomore MF Julie Wunderlich recorded her first collegiate goal in the second half. The goal put the Otahkians up 1-0 and proved to be the eventual game-winner. Senior Nichole Thiele added her 28th career goal a minute and a half later to push the final margin of victory to 2-0. Freshman MF Marla Gianino recorded both assists in the game, pushing her season total to seven. That ties the Southeast single season record, set by Erika Todd last season. Gianino, currently is tied for the team lead in points with 21, alongside fellow freshman Erin Slattery.

Senior goalkeeper Beth Guccione recorded her 11th shutout of the season and 14th of her career in the 2-0 victory. Southeast improved to 3-0 all-time versus Tennessee-Martin.

If Southeast defeats Murray State or the Racers lose before the matchup, the Otahks will host the OVC Tournament at Houck Stadium starting on November 9. Southeast would play in the 7:30 p.m. game that Friday night and the #4 overall seed, who will most likely be either Murray State or Tennessee-Martin.

Southeast is seeing Friday's opponent, Creighton, for the second time this season. This matchup was added after the Otahks had three games cancelled due to the tragic events of September 11. On September 23 at Houck Stadium, Southeast dealt the Bluejays a 1-0 loss, CU's only shutout loss of the season. This neutral site matchup will be SEMO's last non-conference game of the season.
