Soccer Hosts Two Non-Conference Foes

Oct. 25, 2005

Cape Girardeau, Mo. - The Southeast Missouri State University women's soccer team will tune up for the Ohio Valley Conference Championship Tournament by hosting two non-conference foes at Houck Stadium. The Redhawks will host Arkansas-Little Rock on Wednesday at 7 p.m. and South Dakota State on Friday at 7 p.m.

The non-conference games will help prepare Southeast for the opening round of the OVC Tournament when the Redhawks host Jacksonville State at Houck Stadium on Tuesday, Nov. 1.

"We certainly want to win the games with Arkansas-Little Rock and South Dakota State," said Southeast coach Heather Nelson. "At the same time we will be working on the things we need to improve on to be successful in the OVC tournament. We need to continue to work on our team defense and we need to work on taking advantage of scoring opportunities."

Southeast needs a win over Jacksonville State on Tuesday night to advance to the semi-finals at Eastern Illinois University where they would play the host Panthers at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 4. Samford is the top seed in the tournament and will play the winner of the Murray State vs. Austin Peay game in the other semi-final contest.

The finals on Sunday, Nov. 6, will be televised nationally on ESPN U.
