Cape Girardeau, Mo. - The Southeast Missouri State soccer team will host Austin Peay on Tuesday, 7 p.m., at Houck Stadium in an Ohio Valley Conference tournament play-in game. The winner will advance to the OVC semi-finals in Birmingham, Ala. while the season will end for the loser.

"It should be an exciting match with so much on the line," said Southeast coach Heather Nelson. "It is an elimination game and emotions should run high. Austin Peay coach Kelley Guth played for me at Florida State and was an assistant for me at Southeast for several years. There are no secrets, we just have two pretty even teams that will battle to the end."

Southeast is 7-7-1 on the season while Austin Peay is 6-9-3, but the Governors beat the Redhawks 2-1 in overtime during the regular season in a game at Austin Peay.

"We had a great game at Peay earlier this year and I think we really improved after that game," Nelson said. "I think the fact that this will be a very stressful match should help us. We seem to play best in pressure situations. It will be great to be at home. Our artificial surface should help our fast speed of play and our possession game."

The winner will face regular season OVC champion Samford on Friday in Birmingham. Southeast and Samford played to a scoreless tie during the regular season.
