Southeast (15-1, 5-0 OVC, #1 seed)
vs. Murray State (8-8-2, 2-3, #4 seed)
OVC Tournament
November 9, 2001, 7:00 p.m. All-Time Series: Series tied 1-1.

About Southeast: Southeast claimed its first ever victory over Murray State and completed a perfect conference season with a 4-0 victory over the Racers on Sunday afternoon. The Otahkians now head into the OVC Tournament with a six-game winning streak and a head of steam.

Southeast completed the OVC season with a 5-0 record and outscored its opponents 16-0 in those five games. They also recorded their first ever victories over not only Murray, but also Eastern Illinois and Tennessee Tech.

The Otahkians head into the tournament ranked #1 in the country in shutout percentage (.75) this season, having recorded 12 shutouts in 16 games. Their offense currently ranks #9 in the country, averaging 2.88 goals per game.

The Otahks, the #1 seed for the tournament, will host this weekend's tournament by facing #4 seed Murray State again at 7:00 p.m. on Friday night. That game follows an afternoon affair between #2 seed Eastern Illinois and #3 seed Tennessee Tech. The winners will face off at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon with the winner qualifying for the 2001 NCAA Tournament.

Southeast should have an advantage playing at home considering they have won 12 straight games at Houck Stadium, dating back to last season. In those games Southeast has outscored its opponents 37-0.

Senior GK Beth Guccione is 15-1 on the season with 12 shutout in those 16 games. If the season ended today she would rank 2nd in the NCAA all-time in shutout percentage for a single season (0.75), trailing only Siri Mullinix of North Carolina (in 1998, .769). Even if she doesn't record a shutout the rest of the season, she would finish tied for second place all-time. She would need to record three more shutouts to have the record all to herself. Guccione also ranks 4th in the country in GAA (0.44) having only allowed seven goals on the season.
