Powerful hitter at the plate … homerun threat … slated to start in the outfield … should be one of the top hitters in the OVC … great arm defensively … should benefit from having a full season of practice, unlike last season when she missed important time due to mono.

2001: Second Team All-OVC … missed first 10 games of the season with mononucleosis … played in 39 games after returning to lineup … was a perfect 2-2 in pinch hitting situations after her return to the lineup … lead team in multi-RBI games (6) … batted .333 with two homeruns and 19 RBI’s in 21 conference games … was 2-3 with two RBI’s against Eastern Illinois (4.12) … was 2-2 with three RBI’s and three runs against Tennessee State (4.13) … was 2-3 with a double and two runs against Morehead State (4.29).

2000: Member of All-OVC Tournament team … played in 50 games, starting 49 of them … had 33 hits in 136 at-bats … third on team in triples with two … tied for team lead in homeruns with 3 … led team in RBI’s with 28 … one of four team members with slugging percentages above .400 … also led team in strikeouts with 42 … went 2-3 including a homerun, scored two runs and had three RBI’s in 4-3 win over Austin Peay on 3-28-00.

1999: Played in 37 games, starting 25 … had 21 hits in 79 at-bats … walked two times while striking out 24 times … had a fielding percentage of 1.000.

Prep: Attended Lee’s Summit High … played centerfield, shortstop and pitched for coach Sandy Cahill … first team all-conference, all-area and all-metro … honored by team as Best Offensive and Best Defensive player … also participated in volleyball … named first team all-conference and second team all-area for team that won a volleyball conference championship.

Personal: Born 2-6-80 … daughter of Ray Eklund and Judy Swanson … majoring in psychology and minoring in art … also recruited by UMKC and Alabama … member of honor roll in high school and dean’s list at Southeast … lists biggest sports thrill as winning conference volleyball title in high school … biggest thrill at Southeast was going to NCAA Tournament as a freshman.
