Otahkian Softball has Rough Week at Winthrop Tournament

March 18, 2003

Box Score

ROCK HILL, S.C. - The Southeast Missouri State Softball team (4-10) did not fare well in the Winthrop Tournament last weekend. They lost three games while the other two were cancelled due to poor weather. The Otahkians stuck around for a split with Marshall.

Friday the Otahkians gave a gallant effort against Toledo but fell 4-2. The Otahks followed up with another loss to UNC-Greensboro 8-2. Saturday all games were cancelled due to poor weather and the teams were able to collect their thoughts. The final game was on Sunday against the host, Winthrop University. Winthrop took the victory, winning 4-1.

The Otahkians are eager for more games to get as much playing time before conference season begins. The Otahks took on Marshall Monday following the tournament. The doubleheader resulted in a split. Marshall took the first victory 5-2. Southeast fought back and won the second game 5-4.

The Otahkians will be back home on March 26 to take on Southern Illinois. The doubleheader will start at 4 p.m. at the Southeast Softball Complex.
