Fisher Helps Redhawks Capture 1-0 Win At Tennessee State

March 25, 2007

Box Score

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Junior pitcher Elaine Fisher (St. Peters, Mo./Francis Howell North) tossed a three-hit, complete-game shutout as Southeast Missouri State claimed a 1-0 win over host Tennessee State this afternoon at Tiger Field in Nashville. The Redhawks improved to 8-14 (3-3) with the win and the Tigers' season record fell to 22-12 (3-5).

After Fisher and Tigers' junior pitcher Amanda Vaught battled in a classic pitchers' dual through six innings as both teams never posted an offensive threat. The Redhawks opened the top of the seventh inning with a double from freshman catcher Alex Ramirez (Corona, Calif./El Modena) to left center before scoring two plays later on a single from sophomore designated player Amber Peterson (Camarillo, Calif./Oaks Christian) to center field. Ramirez scored the run past TSU freshman catcher Erin Finneran on a close play at the plate.

Ramirez finished the game hitting 2-for-3 for Southeast, while Fisher (6-10) claimed the win after producing three strikeouts.

Freshman Tamara Perkins, senior Diana Clifford and freshman Chelsea Brown combined to post TSU's three hits. Vaught (10-6) took the loss despite allowing one run on five hits while tallying eight strikeouts in a complete-game effort.

Southeast concludes its road swing this Wednesday (March 28) with a non-conference doubleheader in Evansville, Ind., against the host Purple Aces. The first pitch is scheduled for a 2 p.m., start time.
