Southeast Softball Tried to Get Third Win

MARTIN, Tenn. - The Southeast Missouri State softball team (14-24, 10-7) lost their last game against Tennessee-Martin (21-26, 12-8), 5-1. The Otahkians beat the Skyhawks in two games yesterday in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Southeast started strong in the first inning scoring the only run they were able to put on the board. Senior Alicia Loucks was at bat first with a walk. Freshman Kate Groden reached on an error and that same error advanced Loucks to third. Senior Brooke Nett grounded out to second base advancing Loucks to home.

The Skyhawks were able to put up two runs in the second and another three in the fifth. The Skyhawks won 5-1. Skyhawk pitcher Kendra Kosco pitched all seven innings taking the win. Southeast used three pitchers with junior Jessica Hunter taking the loss.

Next, the Otahkians will be home for their last home game of the season against Saint Louis on Tuesday, April 29. The doubleheader will begin at 4 p.m. at the Southeast Softball Complex.
