The awards and honors continue to come in for senior Redhawks softball player Megan McDonald (Cape Girardeau, MO/Cape Central) as she was named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VII First Team for her achievements on the field and in the classroom. This is the first time McDonald has been honored with this prestigious award and is the first Redhawks softball player to achieve this honor since former teammate Kelly Birk was named All-District in 2004.

Redhawks Get Two on All-OVC First Team

Four years ago Megan McDonald (Cape Girardeau, MO/Cape Central) and Michelle Summers (Glendale, CA/Hoover) ended their freshman campaigns as All-OVC selections, today they ended their careers the same way as both were named First Team All- Ohio Valley Conference selections by the OVC for their performances during the 2008 regular season at the annual banquet Wednesday night in conjunction with the 2008 OVC Softball Tournament held in Jacksonville, Alabama. It is the fourth-straight year that each player has been honored as All-OVC selections and it is the third time that each has been named to the first team.

Redhawks Comeback Bid Falls Short

The rollercoaster that was the 2008 Redhawks softball season came to a heartbreaking close on Sunday afternoon. The Redhawks scored two runs with two outs in the seventh inning to force extra innings before falling 8-4 in eight innings to Ohio Valley Conference regular season champion Jacksonville State to ruin Senior Day at the Southeast Softball Complex.
