Softball Continues Road-Trip with Visit to Evansville for Twinbill

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (Monday, March 28, 2005) The Southeast Missouri State softball team continues their eight-game road trip with a doubleheader against non-conference foe Evansville University on Tuesday, March 29 at Cooper Stadium. Start time for game one of the twinbill is 2:00 p.m.

Scouting the Redhawks

The Redhawks look to improve on their 14-10 record against the Purple Aces (8-17). The Redhawks are coming off the a three-game series against Ohio Valley Conference opponent Morehead State. The Redhawks took 2-3 from the Eagles.

Lindsay Pickering led the way for the Redhawks as she extended her six-game hitting streak. SHe leads the team with a .414 batting average.

Michelle Summers added another homerun to her team-leading total of five with a solo blast in the series opener.

Amy Fahnestock will lead the Redhawks on the mound. She went 3-0 last week and helped her cause each time with homeruns in each of her appearances. She leads the team with eight wins.

Scouting the Purple Aces

The Purple Aces have been led Kim Nichols who has hit safely in the last five games, going 5-12 with a home run, three runs batted in and two runs scored.

Over the past six games, the UE pitching staff of Katie Markle, Danny Murphy and Casey Clutch have posted a 1.37 ERA, striking out 39 and only walking eight.

The Redhawks leads the all-time series 36-21. Last season the Aces swept the season series taking both games of a doubleheader at the Southeast Softball Complex. The Aces have won four-straight against Southeast dating back to 2002.
