Southeast Softball Travels to Tennessee Tech

CAPE GIRARDEAU,Mo. - The Southeast Missouri State softball team (8-19, 4-3) will face Tennessee Tech (24-10, 7-1) this weekend in a three-game series. There will be a doubleheader on Saturday and a single game on Sunday. The first pitches will be thrown at 1:30 p.m. on both days.

The Otahkians are coming off of a split with Eastern Illinois earlier this week. Currently, Brooke Nett is leading the Otahkians hitting .303 with 23 hits including four doubles, a triple, and a homer. Nett has also been credited with 11 RBI and 10 runs. Junior Jessica Hunter is head of the pitching staff with 3.49 ERA. She has accumulated three wins and has pitched 56.2 innings with 26 strikeouts and two shutouts.

As released by the OVC April 9, the Otahkians are ranked third in team batting and fifth in team pitching. Nett and junior Amy Murphy are ranked in the top 10 for on base percentage and Hunter is ranked second for shutouts.

The Golden Eagles are coming off a rained out doubleheader against Austin Peay earlier this week. The Golden Eagles are currently ranked first in the OVC in team batting and team pitching. Stephanie Dallmann is leading the Eagles hitting .481 with 51 hits, 27 runs, and 13 RBI. The Eagles are credited with 41 stolen bases this season already out of 53 attempts. Lori Bayless is leading the pitching staff with a 1.55 ERA with six wins and 76.2 innings pitched.

The Otahkians will be at Springfield, Mo. this Wednesday as they avenge the Southwest Missouri State Bears. The doubleheader will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the SMS Softball Field.
