Southeast Softball Hosts Tennessee-Martin

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - The Southeast Missouri State softball team (12-23, 8-6) will play host to Tennessee-Martin (20-24, 11-6) Saturday, April 26. The doubleheader will begin at 1 p.m. but first the Otahkians will honor four seniors on the team. The third game will be at Tennessee-Martin on Sunday at 1 p.m. where the Skyhawks will be honoring their seniors as well.

Southeast is coming off a thrilling win against Eastern Illinois earlier this week after going 11 innings. Sophomore Kelly Birk is leading the team batting .333 with 29 hits including five doubles, two triples, and one home run. Birk also has scored nine runs and is credited with 18 RBI. Junior Jessica Hunter is leading the staff with a 3.29 ERA and four wins. Hunter has pitched 79.1 innings with two shutouts and 34 strikeouts.

Tennessee-Martin is coming off a win against Austin Peay earlier this week winning 4-0. Sophomore Kristin Runyan is hitting .301 with 37 hits including 13 doubles, two triples, and three homeruns. Runyan has scored 20 times with 16 RBI. Sophomore Nicole Davis is leading the staff with a 2.05 ERA and six wins after pitching 92.0 innings with two shutouts and 65 strikeouts.

Southeast will be honoring Katie Cerneka, Alicia Loucks, Brooke Nett, and Kemi Rampi on Saturday for Senior Day. Tennessee-Martin will be honoring Kendra Kosco, Lindsey Moffit, Andrea Mrozinski, Stephanie Paris, Meredith Ramsey, and Andrea Rushing on Sunday at Martin, Tenn. for their Senior Day.

Next, the Otahkians will be home for their last home game of the season against Saint Louis on Tuesday, April 29. The doubleheader will begin at 4 p.m. at the Southeast Softball Complex.
