Southeast Softball Hosts Last Home Game of the Season

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - The Southeast Missouri State softball team (14-24, 10-7) will play host to Saint Louis (18-15, 9-11) for the last home game of the season. The doubleheader will begin at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29 at the Southeast Softball Complex.

Southeast is coming off a strong week defeating Eastern Illinois in a thrilling 11-inning game and upsetting Tennessee-Martin in two of the three games played. Sophomore Kelly Birk is leading the Otahkians hitting .319 with 30 hits including five doubles, two triples, and one homer. Birk has scored 10 runs and has been credited with 22 RBI. Junior Jessica Hunter is leading the staff with a 3.15 ERA. Hunter has accumulated five wins, three shutouts, and 34 strikeouts in 88.2 innings pitched.

The Billikens are coming off a week with two splits, one with Southwest Missouri State and Southern Illinois. Senior Nicole Bohnenstiehl is leading the Billikens hitting .281 with 27 hits, eight doubles, and five home runs. She has scored 10 runs and has been credited with 20 RBI. Bohnenstiehl is also leading the staff with a 1.08 ERA. She has 15 wins with seven shutouts and 204 strikeouts after 168.0 innings pitched.

This weekend the Otahkians will be in Richmond, Ky. for a three game series against Eastern Kentucky. There will be a doubleheader on Saturday and a single on Sunday with the first pitches thrown at 12 p.m. both days.
