Southeast Tennis Posts 7-0 Victory at Tennessee State

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Southeast Missouri State tennis kicked off its two-match road swing through the state of Tennessee Wednesday afternoon by defeating Tennessee State, 7-0, in an Ohio Valley Conference contest at the TSU Tennis Courts. The Redhawks improve to 3-5 (2-1) with the win while the Lady Tigers fell in their season opening match.

Southeast swept all of the doubles matches that started with seniors Bryce Kristal (Pleasanton, Calif. /Foothill) and Drew Kristal (Pleasanton, Calif. /Foothill) defeating Megan Haynes and Penelope Johnson by an 8-0 margin. The No. 2 doubles team of junior Julia Masotti (Moji-Mirim, São Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Integral Aplicado) and sophomore Alyce Kelly (Perth, Australia/Edith Cowan) captured the doubles point with an 8-0 win over Dania Lofton and Melissa Martin. Sophomore Elise Nattier (Flora, Ill. /Flora) and freshman Taylor Orahood (Montrose, Colo. /Montrose) posted their first victory of the season at No. 3 doubles after capturing an 8-2 victory over Maritza Abernathy and Cherrelle Coleman.

In singles action, Bryce Kristal claimed a 6-0, 6-0 decision over Haynes at No. 1 singles for her third win over her last four matches. Drew Kristal posted a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Johnson at No. 2 singles and Masotti notched a 6-0, 6-0 win over Lofton in No. 3 singles. In No. 4 singles, Kelly notched a 6-0, 6-1 win over Abernaty, while Nattier captured a 6-0, 6-0 win over Martin at the No. 5 singles slot. Orahood posted a 6-0, 6-0 win over Leslie Knight to earn her first-ever collegiate victory.

The Redhawks conclude the road trip this morning with at Memphis beginning at 10 a.m.
