Final Stats

MURRAY, Ky.- The Southeast Missouri State Otahkians open Ohio Valley Conference play on Wednesday by dropping a 7-0 decision to Murray State. The young Spring 2002 season has not been kind to the Otahks as of yet, as they have dropped 20 of 21 individual single and doubles matches.

The meet opened with Murray State (7-4, 1-0 OVC) sweeping through the doubles matches, winning 8-2 and 8-1 in the #1 and #2 matches. In the third match, sophomore Kay Ehlke and newcomer Lara Golike gave the Lady Racers tandem of Jaclyn Leeper and Jamie Lee all they could handle before falling 8-5.

The singles competition was not much kinder to Southeast (0-3, 0-1 OVC) as each match was decided by only two sets apiece. Sophomore Daniela Garcia and Ehlke were the only Otahkians to win at least to games in any of their sets.

Southeast will be back in action this weekend when they make their annual Spring Break trip to beautiful Hilton Head Island, S.C. The Otahkians will play Sunday through Wednesday against a varied group of competition that should give the Otahks quality experience heading into the remainder of the OVC schedule. Southeast will open with Lipscomb on March 17 at 2:00 p.m.
